This is my hobby that I do when I have free time. Ideally, I am hoping to make it into a business – where I take an order from people, they provide a picture, which I then make a cross stitch from. I have been doing this for years. I started by taking it to fairs to fill in my time when my children were showing their animals. It has helped when my husband had a stroke at age 45 and I still do a lot of it during the day while being his caregiver. I started by doing kits and then I bought a program and it changed a photo into a cross stitch pattern. To get the right colors was trial and error but as the years went by I got better. I have been doing a cross stitch every year, for 10+ years, for my father’s memorial award at the Guernsey State Show. I’ve had a lot comments on them. I’ve also give them away to family and friends a gifts.
It usually takes me about 1.5 months to do a 8” x 10” size and about 3 to 4 weeks to do a 5” x 7” size. This all depends on how many colors and what my schedule is for the week.
