Tips for crisp pixel patterns

Use the original file

PNG at its native size works best. JPGs add soft, off-color pixels around edges.

Match the width

If the image was scaled up, set the width to the real pixel count so each block is one stitch.

Keep every pixel

Leave “Tidy up” off — in pixel art every single pixel is intentional.

What is different from the photo converter?

Pixel art is converted one pixel to one stitch with no smoothing, so hard edges stay sharp. Each distinct pixel color is matched to its closest DMC floss; if the image has more colors than your limit, similar colors are grouped.

What size should my pixel art be?

Upload it at its original size (for example 32×32 or 64×64). If you upload an enlarged copy, set the width to the original pixel width so each block becomes one stitch.

Do transparent pixels become stitches?

No. Transparent pixels are left as bare fabric, which is ideal for sprites.

Can I use it for perler or fuse-bead designs?

The chart works as a grid for any pixel craft, but the colors are matched to DMC floss, not bead brands.
